Titan Storage is a leading self-storage provider with eight locations across England and Wales, serving personal, business and student customers. With the existing website having been live since 2019, Titan needed a refreshed digital experience that better reflected the quality of their facilities and improved conversion from website visits to enquiries.

Fireworx partnered with Titan Storage to redesign their website with a cleaner, brighter and more professional mobile-first approach, while retaining and enhancing the existing content, and focusing on SEO and CRO.

Challenge

The Titan Storage website plays a critical role in generating enquiries, which are then converted into customers by in-store teams. However, the previous site required both a visual and functional refresh. It was not fully optimised for mobile, despite 70% of traffic coming from mobile devices, and the user journey, in particular the quote and enquiry process, had become overly complex. As the site had grown over time, there was also a need for greater consistency across page types and a design system that could scale. Many storage brands share a similar look and feel, and Titan wanted to stand out in a crowded market and bring a fresh personality.

Actions

A mobile-first design process was adopted from the outset, ensuring the user experience worked seamlessly for the majority of Titan’s users. Designs were created for smaller screens first and then scaled up for tablets and desktop devices, resulting in a more focused, efficient and intuitive customer journey across all screen sizes.

The project began with the development of several design concepts to establish the overall look and feel of the new site. Mood boards, colour palettes and font pairings were created alongside prototype designs for both the homepage and a store location landing page. These concepts were presented to the Titan team, refined through collaborative feedback, and signed off before moving into detailed design.

Working within Titan’s existing brand, and retaining the blue and white logo, Fireworx introduced a refreshed visual language that felt more modern and professional. This included a complementary colour palette, updated typography including a handwritten font, and cleaner layouts with improved spacing and hierarchy. Stronger visual cues were used throughout the site to guide users towards key actions and enquiries. Underpinning the visual language were our taglines, ‘Getting personal storage’, ‘Business as usual storage’, and ‘Last-minute student storage’, giving a human, playful edge whilst focusing on who their customers are.

With the visual direction agreed, the focus shifted to building a consistent and flexible design system. Responsive designs were produced with clear guidance for development, ensuring behaviour across different devices was fully considered. The user journey was simplified, with particular attention paid to improving the quote and enquiry process. Within the quote tool, we designed, illustrated and animated a bespoke size estimator tool allowing customers to visualise what could be stored in the spaces. A suite of templates was designed to accommodate all existing content, ensuring consistency across the site while supporting fast page load times.

Clear visual hierarchy, consistent page templates, and strong calls to action guided users intuitively through the site, while tools like the bespoke size estimator helped users understand their needs quickly and confidently and reduced drop-off in the journey. Overall, UX decisions focused on clarity, ease of use, and conversion, creating a smoother path from first visit to enquiry.

The final phase delivered a fully reimagined website layout that is cleaner, brighter and more professional, but with an added playful aspect unique to Titan. All existing content was carefully integrated into the new templates, ensuring clarity and ease of navigation. The design supports Titan’s key audiences: personal storage customers, businesses, and students, while clearly explaining the self-storage process, space requirements and next steps.

Results

The new Titan Storage website design delivers a mobile-first experience aligned with real user behaviour and a focus on streamlined UX, providing a clearer and simpler path from first visit to enquiry. A consistent and scalable design system now supports future growth, while the refreshed visual identity better reflects the quality of Titan Storage’s facilities and service.
